Scholarship Aid Offered to Long Island Students in OT and OTA Programs in NY
The Long Island District of NYSOTA is offering scholarship aid to students currently enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy program or occupational therapy assistant program in New York State. The Financial Need Scholarship is offered to students requiring financial assistance while the Legislation/Promotion Scholarship is offered to students who have performed legislative, advocacy, and/or promotional activities related to occupational therapy. Scholarship recipients will be required to present at the Long Island District of NYSOTA annual dinner meeting in the spring, highlighting research or a special project (Financial Need Scholarship), or the legislative, advocacy and/or promotional activities performed by the recipient (Legislation/Promotion Scholarship). Applicants must be permanent residents of Nassau County or Suffolk County and current members of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association, Long Island District.
To be considered for either scholarship, all of the following must be submitted:
- Scholarship Application
- Letter from your OT/OTA Department Chairperson, using this downloadable reference form
- Letter from the occupational therapy school or occupational therapy assistant school’s financial aid office stating eligibility for assistance (for the LID Financial Aid Scholarship)
- 2 letters of reference using this downloadable reference form
In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must send the application with letters to the Long Island District Scholarship Committee Chairperson by April 1, 2013.
