Horizon Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our team in providing quality nursing care to schools in Suffolk County and Eastern Long Island, NY. We have immediate openings for LPNs to provide one-on-one care to special needs students in a classroom setting.
Some job locations include but not limited to Babylon, Town of Brookhaven, Commack, East Hampton, Huntington, Islip, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Smithtown, Southampton, and Town of Southold. Within these towns and cities, we have many different school districts that we work with.
Job Summary:
As an LPN, you will have the rewarding opportunity to work one-on-one with special needs students during school hours, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of clinical care based on doctor’s orders and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Your responsibilities will include assisting students with any medical needs that may arise throughout the school day, documenting daily activities, ensuring their safety, and providing assistance in case of emergencies. You will collaborate closely with other school nursing staff and Horizon case managers to ensure the well-being of the students.
Openings for Licensed Practical Nurses include:
- Full-time (school schedule), per diem, and part-time opportunities available.
- Providing one-on-one nursing care for special needs students in a classroom setting.
- Providing healthcare support during school bus transportation services.
- Working school hours, typically between 6.5 – 8 hours per day depending on the specific case.
Responsibilities:
One-on-One LPN: Providing personalized nursing care to special needs students in a classroom setting, attending to their medical needs, administering medications, and providing support as required throughout the school day.
School Bus Transportation LPN: Supporting students with medical needs during transportation to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit, and providing any necessary medical assistance or interventions.
Requirements:
- Valid LPN License in New York: You must hold a current and active Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: Possession of current BLS certification is required to ensure readiness in emergency situations.
