Speech Language Pathologist – SLP

Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for dedicated and passionate Speech Language Pathologists to provide in-home therapy services for homeschooled students located in Suffolk County, New York. As an SLP you will assess, diagnose, and treat language, speech, communication, and swallowing disorders by tailoring every therapy plan to the students’ individual needs. This position requires candidates to travel therefore candidates must have a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle for transportation.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide therapy services in students’ homes, incorporating family education and participation
  • Assesses students’ communication skills (e.g. articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Offer strategies and resources to help integrate speech and language therapy into homeschooling routines
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to students’ homes within the designated service area, ensuring punctual and consistent therapy sessions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathologist program
  • New York State Licensed Speech Therapist
  • Pediatric experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to get fingerprinted by the New York State Education Department
  • Valid drivers license
