School Physical Therapist (PT)
Horizon Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate School Physical Therapist to join our team at a school in Suffolk County, NY. As a School Physical Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping students with physical disabilities or injuries improve their mobility and physical functioning to participate fully in their educational environment.
Job Details:
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Salary: $78 - $135 per hour
Location: Coram, NY

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess students with physical impairments to determine their individual needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students in individual or group settings as per their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with teachers, other therapists, and school staff to integrate physical therapy goals into the student's overall educational program.
- Monitor and document student progress, conducting periodic re-evaluations as required.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about their child's progress, therapy goals, and home exercises or activities to support therapy outcomes.
- Adapt and modify school environments to accommodate students with physical disabilities and promote their independence.
- Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of the student's educational goals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and plan interventions collaboratively
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Valid and active New York State Physical Therapist license.
- Minimum of one year of experience in pediatric or school-based physical therapy preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physical therapy techniques and interventions.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school staff.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in school-based physical therapy.
- Familiarity with special education and IEP processes is a plus.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine passion for helping children with physical disabilities.
